Often when I’m bored at work

I’ll watch a procession behind my eyes

Every smile

And every mistake

Every tear

And every triumph

It strikes me that I must be dying

My whole life passing behind my eyes

A slow encroaching death

Recently, that death receded a margin

My whole future stretching out before my eyes

An intent marching life

I can hear the cadence

A determined pursuit of sunlight

Unyielding

Preventing the descent of twilight

It strikes me that I must be living

Again
