We don’t need to give it all

No need to sell ourselves tonight

I just need a nape to kiss

And a pair of hips to hold tight

I’m not the type to usually do this,

But right now

I’m equal parts echoing chasm

And new-year fireworks.

My mind is under fire-water

And only my truth floats,

So stay close,

And I’ll follow your rhythmed swivel

‘til the moon sets.

I’ll mold myself into

And around you,

Trace my hands

Up your arms

To twine with your fingers

In the stars.

I’ll taste your skin

Cool

Beneath my lips

And slowly kiss

My demons to death.

The hours will slip

By in your figure

And I’ll figure myself

A million miles from past whispers.

I know it’s not love,

But my body doesn’t care to differ.

I’ll rub my thumb

Along your index finger,

Hold you close

Tracing slow circles around your navel.

The ocean will breathe waves

Upon the shore

And I’ll know it’s not love,

But I’ll remember from before.

We don’t need to give it all

No need to sell ourselves tonight

I just need to borrow you

And remember what it feels like
