And so life goes on

Nothing to be done to stop it,

Nothing to be said to bring it back.

Nothing to be done,

But to sometimes

Look back.

I finally gave into subconscious proddings

Donned lenses more objectively clear and

Consciously peered through rationality

To a less rosy reality

To admit our incongruences

You’d never know it was me

And I’d never find a laser

Strong enough to erase the

Tattoos on my memory

Never again the same

Revelations remain

And it’s silly…

To feel robbed of only fiction

And so life goes on

Nothing to be done to stop it,

Nothing to be said to bring it back.

Nothing to be done,

But to sometimes

Look back.

And it’s so silly

Because soon

I’ll never see you again

No more

“How’ve you been?”

No more

Talking through my eyes

No more

Lacing truth in my lies

But I’ll never tell cause it’s silly

And doesn’t matter

But I should know regret

Will lace these days of latter

And so life goes on

Nothing to be done to stop it,

Nothing to be said to bring it back.

Nothing to be done,

But to sometimes

Look back.
